Teachers who apply to IISME typically have at least a Bachelor’s degree in the subject they teach; many have Masters Degrees. Most are technically savvy and at a minimum are comfortable with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The skills a good teacher develops to teach a subject and manage a classroom have value in the industry or university workplace. Besides expertise in at least one subject and a basic, comprehensive, working knowledge of related subjects, teachers possess the ability to:
Take a complex or large concept or process and break it into components
Identify the essential concepts of an issue
Communicate well in oral and written form
Work with many different personalities
Frame questions for information gathering, as in interviews or for research purposes
