We will begin accepting applications for the 2011 IISME Summer Fellowship Program in November.

Steps for applying for a Fellowship: (Only registered teachers who have logged in can apply to the Summer Fellowship Program.)
STEP ONE: Are youeligible for a fellowship? Does the timeline fit your availability?
STEP TWO: Register Now! (Only teachers who have completed the IISME Site Registration can apply to the Summer Fellowship Program. A teacher only needs to register at the IISME site once.)
STEP FOUR: Apply - Sign up for a free, information-packed Applicant Workshop to increase your chances of being selected for an IISME Fellowship.
STEP FIVE: Your principal/administrator, entered on page 1 of your application, will receive a copy of the required Administrator Form via email. Each principal/administrator must reply to that form in order to complete the application process.
Teachers are eligible to apply for the IISME Summer Fellowship Program if they meet the following requirements:
Completed at least two years of full-time teaching in any discipline by June of the current school year.
Committed to continuing to work in education for at least the next three years.
Contracted by a school to teach full-time for the following school year.
Bay Area teachers must currently teach any grade, K-16 in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara or Santa Cruz County.
IISME is expanding into new regions in California, and teachers in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties are eligible to apply for a small number of Fellowships that will be available in those regions in Summer 2011.
Have the legal right and necessary documents to work in the U.S. in a non-teaching job.
Requirements:
IISME Fellows are required to:
Complete an eight-week Fellowship, working 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. (IISME may approve minor adjustments to length of Fellowship.) At least six weeks of any Fellowship must be held during the core eight week Fellowship period.
Carry out summer responsibilities as articulated by Mentor.
Attend all of the following mandatory meetings: IISME Orientation, Midsummer, End-of-Summer Celebration, one-on-one Peer Coach sessions, and community group meetings.
Design and implement an Education Transfer Plan (ETP) for applying the summer experience during the academic year.
Participate in academic-year follow-up programs.
Forgo soliciting or accepting a job from their IISME sponsor.
Return to teaching the following school year.
2010 Summer Fellowship Timeline
November- May
Applications are submitted.
January - May
All administrators must respond to the principal/administrator form before a teacher's resume can be viewed by sponsors.
February - May
Sponsors enter descriptions, review resumes, interview applicants, and offer Fellowships.
February - May
Teachers can edit applications/resumes.
February - May
Teachers can view project descriptions and are highly encouraged to express written interest in specific fellowships. Those teachers who choose to express specific interest in one or more fellowship(s) are much more likely to be placed in a fellowship of their preference.
